How it works
- Drop your WebP files or a folder.
- PNG is already selected, and there is no quality to set.
- Apply it and download a PNG, or a ZIP for several images.
When PNG is the right choice
Choose PNG for logos, icons, illustrations and screenshots, or for anything with a transparent background. It is also the safer choice when you plan to edit the image, because each save loses nothing further.
Expect larger files
WebP compresses far more than PNG, so the converted file can be several times heavier, especially with photos. PNG cannot bring back detail that a lossy WebP already discarded: it only keeps what is there. For photos without transparency, JPG is usually the better target.
Animated WebP
PNG output here is a still image, so only the first frame of an animated WebP is kept.
Questions
Is transparency kept?
Yes. Transparent areas of the WebP stay transparent in the PNG.
Why is my PNG so much bigger than the WebP?
PNG is lossless and stores every pixel exactly, while WebP is built for small files. This is normal. If weight matters more than transparency, convert to JPG instead.
Can I convert many WebP files at once?
Yes. Drop several files or a whole folder. Sub-folders are kept in the output. Free batches hold up to 10 images.
Are my images uploaded?
No. The image is decoded and processed by your browser, on your device. FolderPix has no upload endpoint at all, and the site tells browsers to refuse connections to other servers. You can check it in the Network tab of your browser’s developer tools, or by going offline once the page has loaded.
