How it works

  1. Drop your WebP files or a folder.
  2. JPG is already selected. Adjust the quality if you need to.
  3. Apply it and download a JPG, or a ZIP for several images.

Why websites give you WebP files

Sites use WebP because it loads faster, so that is often what you get when you save an image. Browsers read it without trouble, but some older software, print services and upload forms still refuse it. JPG is accepted almost everywhere.

Choosing the quality

The default of 90 keeps photos looking the same in normal viewing. Lower it to around 75 if you need lighter files, and watch the file size update in the preview. Going above 90 mostly adds weight, because the WebP has already lost its finest detail.

Transparent images

JPG has no transparency, so transparent areas become white. If you need to keep them, convert to PNG instead.

Questions

Why will my computer not open a WebP?

Some older programs were written before the format spread. Converting to JPG is the simplest fix, with no software to install.

Can I convert many WebP files at once?

Yes. Drop several files or a whole folder. Sub-folders are kept in the output. Free batches hold up to 10 images.

What happens with an animated WebP?

A JPG is a still image, so only the first frame is kept.

Are my images uploaded?

No. The image is decoded and processed by your browser, on your device. FolderPix has no upload endpoint at all, and the site tells browsers to refuse connections to other servers. You can check it in the Network tab of your browser’s developer tools, or by going offline once the page has loaded.
